6B games weekend of 26 and 27 September

Friday 26 September the 6B girls played and lost a closely contested home game against the St. Petronelle 6B team.

On Saturday, the 6B girls travelled to their match with the St. Pius X 6B girls. The game was exciting, definitely the best passing game this season, with the girls expertly coached by Meg Naber and substitute coach Stacey Lindemann. Emily was "on fire" throughout the game, with great passing, net work and fun to watch serving. The first match, with great service by Jill, Shannon and Karoline, was won by St. Joseph, 25-15. The second match with excellent service by Karoline, Emily and Rachel, and passing by Rachel, Emily, Lucy, Angelica and Monica, was fun to watch (for the St. Joeseph families) resulting in a win, 25-22. At this point, the game was won, but in the spirit of good sportsmanship, the third match was played "for fun" with the girls trying out the overhand serve techniques they had learned from Ernie Larson earlier in the week, with impressive form shown by Rachel and Kayla.

6B- 21 September game vs. St. Joan of Arc

The home game our 6B team played against St. Joan of Arc was won by great team work among the girls as well as a large number of ACES. Francesca and Lucy had a great passing game, with Shannon, Karoline and Monica serving well in the first match, winning 25-14. The second match, won by St. Joan of Arc seemed like an intermission for our girls, with the exception of some nice serves by Angelica and passing by Emily. The energizing third match was won by Lucy and Rachel's excellent passing, and Angelica, Karoline and Rachel's service, 15-7. Both teams seemed to enjoy the competition, and left the gym in good spirits.

6B game at Our Lady of Peace September 14th

The 14 September game at Our Lady of Peace resulted in a loss for our 6B team, despite some nicely placed serves by Rachel, Karoline and Agelica. The ceiling in their home gym proved challenging with low hanging wooden beams and pipes. The home team, the our Lady of Peace girls, including old friends Kristin and Callie, definitely seemed to have the advantage.

6B girls at St. Joan of Arc 9-13

During the storm of the night of September 13, the 6B girls played an exciting game against St. Joan of Arc. The first match had Kayla and Angelica as well as Shannon serving with accuracy and success but the team lost due to the excellent passing and service by St. Joan of Arc, 25-12. The second match, with well placed serves by Emily, Jill by and Monica, as well as great passing by Karoline and Jill resulted in a win for our girls. The third match was won due to the many aces by Shannon, Kayla and Angelica, with Shannon's last service returned but out, resulting in a 15-7 win for the St. Joseph team.

7A Match #3 on 9-20-09 vs St. Michael

  • Staturday's game against St. Michael's provided a return to the win column.
Lead by great serving by Malone (7 in's including 3 Aces), O'Brien (4), Thiesen (4) and
Wade(3) the Crusaders took and held the lead for most of the 25-17 win. Big plays by Harte (1 saves and 2 attacks), Marciniak (1 attack, 2 spikes, & 1 tip, with 1 spike & 1 tip to seal the victory), and Ryan (2 big recovery's) rounded off the first game.
The second game lasted a little longer, but the 25-18 win showed
a great team effort. With Ace's by Barrett, Marciniak, Theisen
and Wade, along with good serving by Ryan and Harris,
the girls had a good serving game overall.
Pitching in with great save at 16-8 was Harte, needed
attacks and spikes by Malone at 15-7
and 24-17 and another heads up dink by Marcinaik
at 17-10 the Crusader's move on tho the next game tomorrow 9-21.

7A Match #2 on 9-14 vs OLP

Sunday September 14 brought a match with cross town rival OLP.
Game 1 the Crusaders took an early lead, lead by the serving of Theisen and Wade.
Aided by big tips from Barrett and Malone the game looked like a closeout at 23-17.
But OLP dug deep and came back to win 23-25.
Game 2 started out rough for SJS falling behind 6-12.
But fueled by serving by Malone and Marciniak and 3 big attack balls by Marcinaik, the Crusaders fought back but could not hold on and lost a tough one 20-25!
Hopefully we can get a rematch in the playoffs!!

6B Action Shots from Sept. 5, 2008

6B Opening Night, Friday, Sept. 5, 2008

The St. Joseph school 6B girls’ volleyball team, coached by Kathy Gaydos and Meg Naber, is off to a great start for the 2008 season.

The girls faced the 6B team from Saints Peter and Paul on September 5th. The game began with a prayer. The girls’ enthusiasm and their opponents’ inexperience with the St. Joseph school gym ceiling got the first match off to a good start. Both matches were won due to service. Well-placed serves by Shannon Kennedy clinched the girls’ victory for the first match, 25-18. The second match had the St. Joseph team winning the game 25-20, ending with a power serve by Rachel Watson.

The girls are looking forward to their game against St. Joan of Arc on September 13th.

7A Match #1 Sept 7-08 vs St. Walter

The SJS 7A volleyball team opened the season with a win over the taller St. Walter. All in all it was a true team win, with contributions by all. Returning players BARRETT, HARTE, MALONE, MARCINIAK, OBRIEN, RYAN, SEBO, AND THEISEN ALONG WITH NEWCOMERS WADE & ZOLMAN all had a hand in the victories. Returning player HARRIS was absent.

The match scores were 25-13 and 25-18. MALONE & THEISEN lead the way in the first game with great serving by MALONE and setting by THEISEN. A big dig by MARCINIAK at 21-13, helped stop the run St. Walter’s was attempting to make.
The second game St Walter’s took the lead but a big dig by SEBO at 3-6 and a huge save by THEISEN at 12-13 helped turn the tide. 3 aces each by MALONE & WADE at 16-14 and at 19-15 helped seal the victory at 15-18.

This is my first attempt at bloging, and I hope to try and highlight all
the good things the girls do in each game.
