6B games weekend of 25 and 26 October

The 6B girls faced St. Joan of Arc in their first playoff game, held at St. Mary's on October 25th. By sticking to the basic skills emphasized by Coaches Gaydos and Naber, the girls were victorious, 25-11 and 25-14.
The Quarterfinal game against the St. Raphael team, held at Our Lady of Peace, was quite a challenge. This team was first place in the division, with a 9-1 win/loss record. The gym's tricky ceiling took some getting used to for all of our girls. The games were won on excellent teamwork and well-placed serves, with consistently excellent service by Karoline, Shannon, and Jillian, and a great passing game by Angelica, Kayla, Lucy, Emily and Monica. The matches were won 25-23 and 25-10. Francesca, out with injuries, cheered the girls on to victory from the sidelines, as did a very supportive group of family and friends. The entire team is looking forward to their next playoff challenge on November 1.

6B surprise match October 14,2008

In a surprise home game the 6B girls faced the biggest (some players literally twice as big as the 6B girls) and many might say the toughest players of the season. The team they faced, however, had not had the excellent coaching of Kathy Gaydos and Meg Naber. They were unfamiliar with the 4-2 formation and their serving was inconsistent at best. These players were outplayed by all the girls, and the St. Joseph 6B parents suffered such a major defeat the final score will not be reported here. If you see them, please congratulate the girls on their win, and ask them if they have had extra chores or early bedtimes as retalliation. (6B girls win, parents rule!)

6B October 3rd game against St. Raphael

On the night of October 3rd, the 6B girls faced St. Raphael at home. The two matches played were exciting to watch. Kayla's energetic passing and spiking, with great receiving and passing by Jillian, Lucy and Emily, as well as excellent servide and passing by ALL the girls, made it an extremely close game. Toward the end of both matches, the teams were tied 24-24, won in a Deuce by the St. Raphael girls, 26-24 and 26-24.
